Farewell to th’ Buccaneer Blogfest
This will be me final post fer th’ Buccaneer Blogfest!
But, I’ve met a lot o’ great mateys along th’ way, ‘n I look fore t’ keepin’ in touch ‘n learnin’ more from all o’ ye.
Reflection post: Share your experience from this blogfest. What are the next steps you want to take with your blog?
It’s been great to meet so many bloggers/writers over the past few weeks and to learn more about each of you. I think as different as our writing styles might be, we’ve discovered that we have a lot in common. Most of us started our blogging journey with no idea what we were doing and we continue to learn more every day.
My first day of grad school, I had a class with the chair of the History Department. The first thing he told us is there’s no reason every single person in the class shouldn’t get an A. Classes shouldn’t be a competition, rather he wanted us all to work together, share our strengths and ask for help on our weaknesses. He expected us to share our papers with classmates to be proofread before we turn them in and encouraged us to share interesting sources or ideas rather than keep to ourselves.
I think that’s a lot like what our journey as writers should be like. There’s no reason we all can’t be successful in writing and blogging, and I think it’s important to lend a hand and share our tips whenever possible.
As for the next steps with my blog. I’m going to continue promoting authors here as often as possible, and share tips when I think they might be helpful. I’m also hoping to get around to expanding the folklore section, since I haven’t worked on that in a few weeks.
Aside from that, I hope to see you all around and if there’s anything I can do for you, give me a holler.
